Dear (insert MP name here) MP
Why Should I Sign EDM 545? – Five good reasons....
- New hi-tech non-animal procedures represent the hope of humane scientific research, through reducing the number of animals used in scientific procedures.
- Home Office statistics released in July 2008, revealed the number of animal experiments reached over 3.2 Million in 2007, their highest level since 1991
- "The scientific demand for using animals outstrips the pace at which alternatives are being developed. We have to redress this balance." Dr Vicky Robinson, NCRSs
- "We must create the right conditions for scientists to develop new techniques and technology to significantly reduce the number of animal tests conducted, and to improve conditions for the animals used." Neil Parish MEP, Conservative
- "New and highly sophisticated brain-imaging technology is providing vital insights that animal research has failed to produce. I would like to see far greater uptake of these and other human-relevant approaches to pain research to help us develop the effective treatments that patients so desperately need.! Professor Qasim Aziz, Barts and London School of Medicine and Dentistry
We very much appreciate the support you have previously given to animal welfare issues, and hope that you are able to lend your support to EDM 545.
Thanking you in advance for your kind consideration.
Yours sincerely
