| Background – The facts behind our campaign to ban all
experiments which cause brain-damage to primates.
At Naturewatch we believe that certain
procedures are so ethically abhorrent that there can be no justification for
them – such as those which involve the deliberate brain-damaging of primates.
We are therefore campaigning for
these procedures to be banned. In late 2003 the Stroud MP David Drew tabled
an Early Day Motion (number 234) for us, which stated:
This house believes that any scientific procedure
which
causes brain damage to monkeys or any other primate is ethically abhorrent, and
calls on the Government to ban such procedures forthwith.
223 MPs signed up to this motion in 2003-4.
