The Body Shop – One Year On

Do you remember how last year L'Oréal were going to learn from The Body Shop and take on their values?

Guess what's happened, one year on ....

Absolutely nothing!!

Animal testing, the issue which enabled The Body Shop to grow into a major retail group and made its owners multi-millionaires, has been dismissed by L'Oréal.

As The Body Shop became just another high street cosmetics retailer, with caution warnings from animal welfare organisations, it has found itself replaced by the big players.

Welcome Marks & Spencer!

M&S now provides cruelty-free make-up and toiletries available from all its 450 UK stores. From body butters to balms, you can look good and feel great with a clear conscience.

So boycott L'Oréal and its subsidiary The Body Shop.

They're just not worth it!

Now listen carefully, here comes the b***sh**

In May 2006, The Body Shop issued written assurances that it would remain an "independent company within the overall organisation with its own management structure making it's own decisions."

One year on ....

In June 2006, six L'Oréal executives* were appointed to The Body Shop board, replacing the five Body Shop board members that resigned. This means that decisions made at board level will be totally influenced by L'Oréal personnel.
_________

In 2006, statements were made implying L'Oréal would learn from The Body Shop and take on board their values .

One year on ....

L'Oréal continues its silence on animal tests that maim and kill animals for the sake of just another L'Oréal ingredient. And The Body Shop finds itself just another minor subsidiary of L'Oréal & Nestlé.
_________

If you care about animals, boycott The Body Shop - it's not worth it!

*[The new Body Shop board members include current L'Oréal CEO Jean-Paul Agon, Christian Mulliez (V.P. Finances, L'Oréal), Sylvia Jay (V.C. L'Oréal U.K.), Richard Cymberg (Director General French Division, L'Oréal), Geoff Skingsley (Director of HR, L'Oréal) and former L'Oréal UK chief Tom Vyner.]
