| Naturewatch Foundation has sponsored the construction of the new cattery for SPA-SOS using funds raised via our 2003 and 2004 World Animal Day celebrity online auctions.
Construction commenced with the spring thaw of 2004. The new, brick built and well-insulated cattery is electrically heated with special windows and doors to ensure a minimal loss of heat during the severe winter months when the temperature can drop to minus 35 degrees centigrade (hard to imagine a temperature that low!).
The cats have now moved into their new, comfortable and warm surroundings so we can now show you the completed building with its occupants.
Each year the shelter staff dread the bitterly cold winter months as it’s always a challenge for them to keep all the animals warm and comfortable. At least now they won't have to worry about the cats!
