Naturewatch's director John Ruane travelled to Kyiv in the first week of October to attend the opening of the new puppy accommodation and cattery within the animal shelter. This had been funded in part by Naturewatch Foundation, via the eBay auctions for World Animal Day, and in part by a very generous donation from Mary Evans for the new puppy accommodation.
The event attracted considerable attention from the press - although often the journalists were torn between getting their story and attending to the various furry distractions!
