Spring 2003
A Lithuanian vet student in France
For the second year running a young Lithuanian veterinary student Victoria Kizinievic has spent her summer vacation working with stray animals in France, at the Refuge de Thiernay animal shelter. Victoria has tirelessly assisted Princess Elizabeth de Croy and her staff in the care of the stray cats and dogs. Victoria, a member of the Lithuanian Society for the Protection of Animals, speaks fluent French (as well as English, Polish and Russian!) and has really impressed the Princess by her total dedication and hard work. She has assisted with many surgical procedures at the shelter and has received glowing references from visiting vets who cite her excellent aptitude and her sensible approach to international animal welfare issues. For her 2003/2004 academic year, Victoria will be carrying out her third year veterinary studies in Paris before returning to finish her degree at the Lithuanian Veterinary Academy. We thank Victoria for her love and dedication of animals and we have high hopes that she will enjoy a very worthwhile future in animal welfare.
