 An encounter with a stray pelican

The first pelican to land in Lithuania in over 20 years reached LiSPA for some tender loving care before being released back into the wild.

Weakened from being blown off course, the juvenile white pelican dropped into the south of Lithuania, where it was rescued and intially cared for by a local couple. After initial tests showed that it was not suffering from bird flu or any other nasties, it was sent to LiSPA to be cared for.

But the pelican presented some unusual problems...
