 An encounter with a stray pelican

There was only one solution that would be right for the pelican: it had to be taken somewhere more suitable. That 'somewhere' was Greece - not exactly a quick van drive over the border! An export license was granted, and the airport's ground handling company waived its normal charges.

The Greek Ambassador’s office wrote: "...We were deeply touched and charmed when we learned that together with The International Nature Network in Greece the bird will be released into the wild at Lake Kerkini Reserve, where he will find a suitable place and climate for the summer..."
