An encounter with a stray pelican

Naturally, the pelican was oblivious to the media fuss and the diplomatic niceties. Nevertheless, there was a short farewell ceremony at Vilnius airport at 5:30am, where it was ringed and granted 'citizenship' of Lithuania. It arrived in Greece in mid-afternoon, where it was greeted by officials from the Lithuanian Embassy Greece, before being taken to the Lake Kerkini Reserve. There it was freed.
