The students are now starting to train two of the horses for riding, with a view to offering riding lessons for a small fee and then using the money to buy better feed for the animals and other items essential for horse welfare. The third horse is too young for riding, but will benefit from fresh air, exercise and grazing.
Those involved come from a range of backgrounds and are of different ages, and include a post-graduate qualified veterinarian and experienced rider. The father of one of them is in the construction business and has agreed to help out with some of the materials and labour. However, the group still has a long way to go before their dream for the Faculty horses can become a reality and a lot of hard work in fundraising and training is required of them.
