As a consumer, you have more power than you think! Most companies do care about how the public perceive them and, not least, where you as potential customers spend your money. Contacting companies to voice your concern can influence how they conduct business and the policies they have in place.

Emails and Letters

Writing to companies that don’t have cruelty free policies in place can make them realise how important these policies are to potential customers. Over the past few years, several of the larger retailers and Tesco supermarket have put non-animal testing policies in place after receiving letters from Naturewatch supporters - your letter might be the one to turn the tide!

Both sample letters are suitable for sending to companies that manufacture personal care and / or household cleaning products.

Emails and letters you can send to support non-animal research

Some pharmaceutical companies are promoting the use of non-animal methods through participating in the European Partnership for Animal Alternatives (EPAA). However, two hugely profitable companies (listed below) aren’t yet members. Click the links below to send a pre-printed letter [pdf] to each company. Print each one off, date them, add you signature, name and address, and then pop each one in an addressed envelope and post. Easy!

L'Oréal Boycott


The L'Oréal Group is the world's largest cosmetics and beauty company holding a huge share of the market for personal care products, both in Europe and globally.  L'Oréal attribute their success to their innovative ingredients, and it's these particular ingredients that necessitate even more animal testing. L'Oréal’s continued use of ‘innovative’ ingredients led to Naturewatch announcing a boycott of L'Oréal in 2000.  Since then we have encouraged consumers to boycott L'Oréal products and the products of their subsidiary companies.  More...
