[21 April 2007] - One year on from the Body Shop being bought by L'Oreal, protests continue to keep L'Oreals continuing use of animal tested ingredients in the media spotlight around the world.
In Australia, members of Animal Liberation Victoria (ALV) held a demonstration outside a Body Shop in Melbourne's central business district, urging shoppers to shun Body Shop stores because its new owner, L'Oreal, supports animal testing.
More than two dozen members of ALV mounted a highly visual protest, which brought home the horror of animal testing for the sake of cosmetic ingredients. The protest sent a very clear message to consumers and successfully attracted the attention of Australia's national newspapers. ALV spokesman Noah Hannibal said, "We want people to know that every time they make a purchase at the Body Shop, they may in fact be financially supporting animal tests."
Well Done Animal Liberation Victoria! Keep up the good work informing the public that the Body Shop is now nothing more than a subsidiary of L'Oreal, one of the worlds largest users of animals.
