August 08 - Medical experts call for an end to animal pain experiments
A report by a panel of medical experts from across England concludes that, using animals to research pain has "limited value" and should be replaced by newer technologies. The report in the journal Neuroimage, points out that animal tests can only simulate some aspects of chronic pain and are too simplistic. More .... [pdf]

21 July 08 - Home Office release statistics revealing the number of animal experiments reached over 3.2 Million in 2007, their highest level since 1991. An appalling failure for the government who have overseen a steady increase in the use of animals, year on year, for the past 6 years.
