Co-op continue to pioneer responsible retailing
In announcing an immediate ban on toxic chemicals from Co-op brand household products, Co-operative Retail Group have once more proved their resolve in providing products which are not only kind to animals, but kind to the environment and health too!!
The banned chemicals which have been removed from Co-op household products, include pthalates and synthetic musks, these can be absorbed by the body and have been linked to cancer, fertility loss and environmental damage.
Co-op note "The move spearheads an initiative by the Co-op to raise the ethical standards of supermarket products in the U.K."
This milestone follows the publication of the biggest survey* of ethical shopping in the U.K. for 10 years, conducted on behalf of the Co-op, its findings confirm consumers care about the issues behind the products on the shelves. Some of the consumer concerns highlighted in the survey were;
- "Nine in 10 want a ban on misleading labels"
- "Six in 10 worry more about food integrity, environment, and animal rights"
