The banned chemicals which have been removed from Co-op household products, include pthalates and synthetic musks, these can be absorbed by the body and have been linked to cancer, fertility loss and environmental damage. Co-op note "The move spearheads an initiative by the Co-op to raise the ethical standards of supermarket products in the U.K." This milestone follows the publication of the biggest survey* of ethical shopping in the U.K. for 10 years, conducted on behalf of the Co-op, its findings confirm consumers care about the issues behind the products on the shelves.
