Partners from across the globe descend on Naturewatch for World Animal Day

Naturewatch held a reception to celebrate World Animal Day and to launch our new offices. For the first time, all our major partners were able to meet in one place - it was a great chance to meet and get to know people who had been familiar names before.

Ben Noreikis from Lithuania flew in for the day. It was a chance for our new partner in Turkey, Perihan Agnelli, to meet with Tamara Tarnawska, who has for so long done so much impressive work for animal welfare in the Ukraine, and with our tirelessly enegertic patron, Princess Elizbeth de Cro˙. Maggie Mann, our partner in Australia, was already over here in the UK visiting her mother and came for the day. We were also delighted to welcome Pollyanna Pickering and her daughter Anna-Louise, who has been so generous to Naturewatch over the years. We subjected several of our esteemed guests to interviews, and we'll bring you the results in the next few days!

We also discovered unexpected abilities in the mayor of Cheltenham, Rob Garnham, who greeted Perihan in Turkish. His days in the merchant navy had equipped him well!

Meanwhile, our eBay auction of celebrity memorabilia is already proving to be a hit for the second year running. Katie Melua's signed CD, "Call off the Search", went for £41; Elton John's Greatest Hits sold for £39, and Rula Lenska's coral and silver necklace raised £27. All proceeds will go to the Naturewatch Foundation work overseas.
