"Boycott Botox"
Since launching "Boycott Botox" we have received huge support in the form of e-mails voicing disapproval of the animal testing of cosmetic botox. Here are just a few of the comments, that clearly demonstrate the strength of public opposition to animal testing of Botulinum Toxin products for cosmetic purposes....

"We fully support your protest about the LD50 test being used for what is extensively a cosmetic product.
Batches of Botox destined for cosmetic surgery should be classified as a cosmetic substance, and not as a medical substance.
We wish you success in your campaign."

“I think that Botox should be banned for cosmetic reasons. It is appalling that so many animals suffer to produce this substance.”

“I'd like to share my views on the use of the LD50 test on batches of Botox for cosmetic use. As a former research scientist myself, I can appreciate the value of many types of testing of medicinal products. However, I find this testing both unnecessary and extremely cruel.
The LD50 test itself is barbaric and unnecessary and should be stopped entirely for all products. There is no sensible rationale for performing this test, as it answers no relevant hypothesis.
In addition, I believe that testing of any cosmetic products on animals is wrong. Animals do not need to be made to suffer in order for people to have products which they believe will make them look younger. We have more than enough ingredients fully (and overly) tested for safety to work with. Any further testing should be carried out on tissue cultures and human volunteers.
I will not purchase any Botox products while this cruel testing continues, and will encourage my friends to make the same decision.”

“I think that it is indefensible that Botox for cosmetic purposes is still being tested on animals. Surely UK legislation banning the testing of cosmetic ingredients on animals should be consistently applied - why is this still going on? I am totally opposed to it.”

“This is just typical of money greedy people breaking the law and abusing animals purely to satisfy vanity. It is more than time that the goverment policed its laws against animal testing and made them stronger. If these selfish people want to have Botox injections then let them be the guinea pigs not innocent animals.”

“It is absolutely disgraceful that thousands of helpless animals are subjected to this horrific treatment.
There should be a legal requirement that anyone contemplating receiving Botox for cosmetic purposes should be fully informed of how it is produced.
There is nothing beautiful about abusing helpless animals it is an abomination”

“I suppose we have to have some sympathy for people who support animal-experiments in medicine, because - I assume - they truly believe it is "necessary" for our well-being ... but surely no-one with any sense of fairness & humanity can justify anything done to any creature solely to "beautify & improve" ourselves. I feel so strongly about this that I can accept nothing that is said on the other side of the argument, although I try to listen to other views. Some time ago I heard on the radio a person claiming not to care how her lipstick ended up "better" and I'm still feeling stunned that this view can be put forward in the 21st. century.”
