Shameless!
The Body Shop appears not to understand the term 'boycott'
One of our supporters, Laura from London, has been appalled by The Body Shop's
crass marketing and sheer brass neck. As she explained to us:
...I was never part of the mailing list for the Body Shop
on-line, but since my email complaint (to which I have received the bog
standard reply which didn't even answer my questions!!) they have used my
email address to sign me up for on-line offers!!!!! It beggars belief that they could so
blatantly disregard what I had written by signing me up for special offers!
Laura has therefore written to The Body Shop to complain...
Dear Sir/Madam,
Disregarding the frankly useless and blanket press release response I had
to this individual complaint, could someone please respond to this email
(preferably not an automated response as last time) and tell me which part
of the email below [original email forwarded] gave you the impression
that I wanted you to use my personal details to send me emails with
'special offers'?
I would have thought it was quite clear from the subject field alone that I
do not wish to receive marketing emails from The Body Shop and am actually
involved in an active boycott of your stores and products.
I would like an explanation from someone in customer services as to which
part of the data protection act The Body Shop does not understand and a
clear outline of how this happened.
If I do not receive personal communication from someone within 48 hours I
shall be making a complaint to the Information Commissioner at the DMA.
In complete and utter disbelief,
Laura from London
We await The Body Shop's response with interest and will keep you informed...
